Why this program?
Benefit 1: Helps prevent injuries
According to research, soccer is among the sports with the highest number of injuries. It is also estimated that 30-50% of injuries are due to overuse during sports participation.
Developing fundamental movement skills, endurance, agility, strength, coordination and balance is shown in the scientific literature to help reduce the occurrence of overuse injuries.
Many kids get to high school and are thrown into the weight room without any prior preparation in performing fundamental movements (e.g. squats or lunges) and as a result develop lingering injuries.
Benefit 2: Improvement in Overall Health
Resistance training has been shown to improve cardiovascular health, body composition, bone mineral density among other benefits.
It is well documented how physical activity has a positive effect on overall mental health.
Benefit 3: Improvement in Sports Performance
Gains in strength, speed, agility, power, balance, coordination and endurance which directly translate to soccer (kicking distance, changes of direction etc.) and more generally to other sports.
Support transitions through US Soccer game formats - kids going from playing U10 to U11 (from 7v7 to 9v9) are expected to handle a 33% increase in field length and a 20% increase in field width without any preparation.

Founder, CoachI am an avid, upbeat and hands on soccer and fitness coach with over 10 years of working in fitness and 5 years of soccer coaching experience. I believe it is important not just to help kids get better and healthier but to help develop a lifetime of love for both the game of soccer and for fitness. My main focus is coaching the person and not just the player. As someone who has spent their life loving sports and fitness I see it as my duty to pass that passion on to the next generation.
As an athlete I went into high school knowing very little about strength development and weight lifting. Having played both football and lacrosse in high school I was thrown into the weight room with little to no preparation which cause me to develop nagging injuries due to not having the proper fundamental movement skills. Because of this I believe it is important to teach young athletes fundamental movement skills and the basics of how to move properly to prevent injuries, build strength and develop the correct movement patterns so when the kids start lifting they’re ahead of the curb.
I have also been in child care for over 10 years, taking care of kids from early development and up. My own view point of child care is key to my coaching ideology and program development.

Founder, Coach
Passionate and Positive youth soccer coach with over 10 years of experience working with youth soccer players to help them fall in love with the game of soccer as well as develop their skill, game intelligence and physical fitness. I am committed to the development of the whole self and fostering life lessons through soccer. I am an educator with experience teaching college level courses in Statistics.
As an athlete, I played soccer and tennis throughout my youth. In college and at the University of Leeds in the UK, I continued to play but did not progress due to a plethora of injuries and being told I was not tall enough at 5’7’’. This setback fueled my desire to coach and better understand how to build strength and improve my physical abilities to play soccer. Now and in my 40’s I continue to play soccer regularly in northern Virginia. I am also currently pursuing the Certified Strength & Conditioning Certification and will progress to the UEFA B soccer coaching license in 2025.
